Fumie Suguri starred
as the White Witch, in
the "Chronicles of
Narnia" DVD Release
special ice show. The
man next to her is
comedian/writer (his book
"Kage hinata ni saku"
was a big hit) Gekidan
Hitori. It was revealed
that Gekidan Hitori and
Suguri were childhood
friends.

Suguri skated to "The
White Witch", "The
Battle" and "Spring".
After that, Hitori
showed up and attempted
a Y-spiral and failed
miserably.
In the talk show, Hitori
and Suguri talked about
their respective fathers
being air pilots and
lived in the same city
in Alaska.
Hitori then suggested
"Today, I came into
Suguri-san's field. So,
maybe next time we can
form a comedy duo "Alaskers"
and enter the M-1 Grand
Prix (a competition for
comedians), which Suguri quickly turned
down... "No, I don't want
to skate in THAT field
(skate=suberu. Also
means "Fail to make
someone laugh".)
She recalled that "Hitori-san
was weird in Alaska. He
didn't even go on family
trips because he "wanted to
be alone." He sure was
alone from that time." (Hitori
means alone, one person
in Japanese.) For this, Hitori praised her. "See?
You sure have IT in
comedy."
Details on the show
Buena Vista Home
Entertainment explained
"The first preview on
the ice in Japan."
Suguri appeared as the
White Witch and skated
the world of Narnia for
8 minutes in 3 costumes.

"The first part is the
world of ice, the world
of the cold witch. Next,
it presents strength
using a sword. The last
part is where I battle
with Aslan the Lion."
"There wasn't much
preparation time, so it
was very hard. I did
everything, from the
costumes to the lights.
It was difficult but
worth it."
"Limited time didn't
allow me to do more
costume changes.
However, I had a great
time wearing hair
accessories and using
props, which I usually
don't wear or use."
The surprise guest was
comedian Gekidan Hitori.
He appeared wearing a
white mask and skated
(and fell) and presented
a bouquet to Suguri.
Hitori told the audience
that "I taught Suguri-san
how to skate." Suguri:"
I'll let you believe
that."
Hitori gushed over
Suguri's performance.
"Wow, so beautiful. I
suggest all ladies do
figure skating. If I
have a daughter someday,
I will make her take
lessons."
