BIOGRAPHYnana

Nana Takeda began skating in 1993 in her native Chiba.  She was a top member of Japan's ladies team on the junior Grand Prix circuit from 2005 to 2007.  Her most notable performances were her win at the 2006 Miercurea Ciuc championship in Romania and her second place finish at the 2006 Taipei Cup in Taiwan.  She was also runner-up for Japan's national junior title in 2006.

Her first full season on the Japanese senior 'A' team was 2007-08 and she made the most of her two Grand Prix events.  A strong sixth place showing at Skate Canada and a surprise bronze medal at the NHK proved that Nana had arrived at the top echelon of Japanese skating.  Nana talked to us about her feelings as a member of such a strong team in her exclusive interview with Japan Skates at 2007 Skate Canada in Quebec City.  The 2008-09 pre-Olympic season was not quite as successful for Nana as she battled injuries.  She competed at Skate Canada in Ottawa, where she interviewed again with Japan Skates, but was forced to withdraw from other events until the All-Japan Championships, at which she finished in the top six to ensure herself a national team ticket for the Olympic year.

In her spare time, Nana enjoys dancing, shopping and watching DVDs of her favourite movies.  We at Japan Skates plan to watch the story of her career all the way to 2010 and beyond!
